Badhurudheen Hassan
Chief Executive Officer, SME Digital
Mr. Badhurudheen Hassan is a Chartered Banker and the Chief Executive Officer of SME Digital Private Limited, a subsidiary of Bank of Maldives. He was appointed CEO in September 2025 and is currently leading the transformation of SME Digital into a self-sustaining, digitally driven financial institution focused on expanding access to finance for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in the Maldives.
He brings over thirteen years of experience in banking and financial services, having joined Bank of Maldives in 2012 and progressed through several key leadership roles, including Retail Business Development Manager, Senior Manager of Retail Banking, Head of Retail Banking & Cards, and Director of Retail & SME Banking.
Throughout his career, Mr. Badhurudheen has developed strong expertise in retail and SME banking, strategic leadership, digital transformation, and financial product innovation. He has played a key role in major digital initiatives at Bank of Maldives, including digital onboarding for personal and business customers and the automation of retail loan products to provide instant digital approvals.
In his role as Director of Retail & SME Banking, he oversaw a nationwide network of more than 40 branches. His current focus is on building SME Digital as a leading Shariah-compliant digital finance platform that supports inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-led SME growth in the Maldives.
