Peter Mulroy

Former Secretary General, FCI

Peter served as FCI Secretary General, the world’s largest association and business network of commercial banks and factoring companies, with its headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands dedicated to the growth of factoring and SCF globally. He assisted banks, regulators and governments from around the world in advocating on behalf of and introducing the concept of factoring, receivables and supply chain finance (SCF).

Peter was previously Managing Director of CIT’s Receivables Capital Management unit in New York, one of the largest factoring and asset based finance players in the Americas. He also served on the CIT management committee, supporting their global growth strategy. Peter came to CIT through the acquisition of the factoring unit of SunTrust Bank, where he developed their international factoring business. He also worked as an economic consultant in Los Angeles on various mixed use retail-entertainment projects in the US and Asia and engaged in market research to determine their overall economic feasibility. Prior to that, he worked in the International Division of Bank
of America in various management roles. He was initially trained in London and was given his first
assignment in Abu Dhabi upon graduation.

Currently Peter is serving as Independent Chairman of the Board and Audit Committee of the Banqup Group, a publicly traded company on the Euronext Brussels stock exchange, one of Europe’s largest e-invoicing platforms, as Europe transitions to a mandatory e-invoicing ecosystem driven by the universal Peppol standard. Peter also serves as Member of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece’s (NBG) factoring subsidiary. He was brought on to support their global expansion strategy. Peter also serves as Member of the Board of 360tf Capital, the first licensed and regulated factoring company in Gift City, India. Peter is also currently working as lead consultant on a World Bank project in Africa to support the transformation and diversification of the Angolan economy, reducing their reliance on the energy sector by fostering the growth of their private sector in general and increasing access to finance for SMEs in particular through the deployment of factoring and SCF in their economy.

Peter received his Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey, studied at the Universität Konstanz in Germany, and received his MBA from Thunderbird, School of Global Management in Arizona. He was awarded Leader of the Year 2023 from the Supply Chain Finance Community, an independent
global network based in the Netherlands comprised of finance professionals, corporations, and academics who collaborate to research, standardize and implement SCF solutions. Peter has authored
numerous papers and articles on various subjects on international finance, addressing audiences from around the world on the broad subject of SCF and is generally regarded as a global ambassador for the factoring and receivables finance industry.
