Daniel Lauchenauer has over 15 years of experience in international cooperation with a focus on economic development. He currently serves as Head of Economic Development Cooperation at the Swiss Embassy in Pretoria, where he oversees the implementation of Switzerland’s 2025–2028 strategy in South Africa. Prior to this, he was a Programme Officer at Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs SECO in Bern, responsible for trade promotion, sustainable value chains, biodiversity, and selected multilateral partnerships.
From 2015 to 2019, he contributed to the design and implementation of Switzerland’s economic cooperation programme in Ghana as Deputy Head of Cooperation. He has also held senior project management roles in Swiss development cooperation initiatives in Albania, Indonesia and Colombia. Daniel holds a degree in physics from ETH Zurich and combines public sector and private industry experience in his work.
