He designed the Global Trade Liquidity Program (GTLP)—the only G20-endorsed facility addressing the 2008 Global Financial Crisis—establishing a platform model that has since been applied to multiple economic shocks. He also spearheaded the world’s first blended finance fund for agriculture, the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP).
A graduate of IMD Business School in Switzerland, German is a Halcyon Climate Fellow and a member of the Clinton Global Initiative Greenhouse. Living between Washington, DC, and Nairobi, Kenya, he works at the nexus of global finance, agricultural development, and climate action—driven by his belief that resilient finance can transform the livelihoods of farming communities worldwide.
