Justus Ortlepp

With over two decades of expertise in business analysis and systems architecture, Justus Ortlepp leads the product vision for Tazama, the Linux Foundation’s open source, real time transaction monitoring and fraud detection platform. His foundational experience spans major South African institutions, including IBM, FNB, and Deloitte, where he engineered innovative and award-winning solutions.
At Deloitte, Justus contributed to projects with the South African Reserve Bank and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, setting the stage for his full time dedication to building the financial crime risk management solution that evolved into Tazama. Under his leadership as Head of Product, Tazama has launched its MVP in April 2022, gained traction with pilots across Africa and Asia, and now powers scalable open-source fraud capabilities.
