Sandeep Varma

Mr Sandeep Varma is a seasoned financial sector professional with over three decades of rich and diverse experience in development banking and financial services. He began his distinguished career with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) in 1991 and has since held several key leadership positions within the organization, contributing significantly to its mission of promoting and supporting Indias MSME sector.
Over the years, Mr Varma has been instrumental in conceptualizing and executing a wide range of policy and operational initiatives related to MSME financing, institutional strengthening and capacity building. His areas of expertise include credit guarantees, risk management, human resources development and development finance.
One of the notable highlights of his career was his tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), where he led the institutions strategic transformation and modernization. Under his leadership CGTMSE witnessed significant expansion in its guarantee outreach, operational efficiency and stakeholder engagement, thereby enhancing the ease of credit access for micro and small enterprises.
Currently, Mr Sandeep Varma serves as Chief General Manager, Human Resource Development Vertical at SIDBI. In this role, he is driving initiatives aimed at organizational development, employee engagement, leadership development and learning & development across the institution. His forward-looking approach to HR strategy is helping align SIDBIs human capital with its evolving developmental mandate.
