Kagiso is the Chief Executive Officer of MTN SA Fintech, where he is spearheading cutting-edge innovations that drive financial inclusion and accelerate Africa’s digital economy. Under his leadership, MoMo is evolving into a scale fintech platform, shaping the future of payments, lending, insurance, and digital financial services in South Africa.
Previously, as Chief Products Officer for MTN SA Fintech, Kagiso led the development and scaling of groundbreaking fintech solutions, cementing MoMo’s role as a catalyst for financial access and digital transformation.
With a career spanning Digital Financial Services, Strategy, and Innovation, Kagiso has held senior leadership roles across the continent:
• At the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), he established and led the Fintech Unit, which was internationally recognised in 2020 as the Best Fintech Innovation Hub globally.
• At Vodacom, he served as Executive Head of Strategy, responsible for Fintech (M-Pesa), Customer Business Unit Strategy, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Earlier in his career, he worked with McKinsey, Barclays Africa, and Standard Bank, advising on Strategy, Operations & Digital Transformation, Customer Experience, and Financial Innovation — consistently unlocking performance and identifying the next wave of growth opportunities.
Kagiso holds an MSc from the University of Oxford and an MBA from GIBS.
