Owureku Asare is the Deputy Director of the Fintech and Innovation Office at the Bank of Ghana, where he drives policy and regulatory initiatives to strengthen Ghana’s digital financial ecosystem. With more than 20 years of experience in digital financial services, banking, and payments, he has worked across Africa to advance innovation, inclusion, and financial stability.

At Ecobank, Owureku led digital transformation projects across 33 African markets, including the development and rollout of Ecobank Business App, Ecobank Mobile App, Digital Merchant Cash Advance , Digital Invoice Discounting and EcobankPay. He also led the negotiation of strategic partnerships with leading telcos to expand mobile money access across Africa. His work spans fintech regulation, payment systems oversight, and large-scale trade finance.

Owureku has collaborated with global partners including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mastercard Foundation, Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP), Better Than Cash Alliance (BTCA) to promote financial inclusion and co-founded the Financial Inclusion Forum Africa. He is a sought-after voice on digital transformation in Africa, known for bridging policy, technology, and innovation.
